Our History
Who is Jesus Youth?
Jesus Youth is an international Catholic youth movement with a charismatic spirituality. It has its beginnings in Kerala in India, but is now active in 30 different countries around the world.
Jesus Youth is an initiative of young people themselves, who, filled with the Holy Spirit try to reach out to other young people. The strength of the movement is its special focus on a life centered on the Lord Jesus Christ: beginning with an experience of God nourished by prayer, the Word of God, the sacraments and fellowship, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others.
Jesus Youth is a network of small but vibrant groups of young people and families. In their own life situations, they strive to give time to the Lord, responding to the challenges of today’s world in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pontifical Approval
The Pontifical Council for Laity recognized Jesus Youth as an 'International Private Association of the Faithful with Juridical personality’ in May 2016. Jesus Youth is the first movement in India and the second movement from Asia to receive such an approval.
This recognition by the Holy See affirms Jesus Youth's commitment to the Catholic Church and its mission to form young disciples who live out their faith authentically in today's world.

Jesus Youth UK
In UK, Jesus Youth is now active in 19 Catholic Dioceses. Jesus Youth began its mission in UK in 2001. On a regular basis the movement organizes Youth Formation Programmes, Catechist’s trainings, Family Retreats, Youth retreats, Teen Retreats and Jesus & Me pre-teens camps. The movement also takes a lead in organizing pilgrimages, fun and fellowship days and musical evenings for young people periodically. In UK, Jesus Youth has organized National Conferences in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2022, as well as hosting the European Conference in Wales in 2007. Jesus Youth UK has hosted a series of Gospel music concerts in 2005 and 2009 by Rexband, the international music band of Jesus Youth.
Jesus Youth and Church in UK
Jesus Youth has been working together with the other youth movements as well as the various other initiatives of the Church for the past many years. Jesus Youth is officially part of the “Spirit in the City” outreach initiative of the Westminster diocese, as well as working closely with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) group of UK. Jesus Youth is also very much a part of the various 40 Days for Life pro-life prayer campaigns happening across UK for the last few years.
Our Six Pillars

It is structured around the needs of people as they live out their everyday lives in homes, offices, universities, schools, trains, playgrounds and streets around the world.
